In order to qualify as a solicitor, in addition to either a degree, usually in law, or membership of
the Institute of Legal Executives, a trainee has to find a position with a firm of solicitors to undertake
a Training Contract. This period provides the trainee with hands on experience in the law which
supplements the mainly academic knowledge gained so far.

The Training Contract period gives time for the trainee to explore some of the different Departments
of a firm and decide which specialist area to choose. Laceys has always recognised the importance of
training potential new solicitors for the changing legal environment. The firm provides two such Training
Contracts for talented trainee solicitors.

In addition to the working experience the firm has developed a keen sense of well-being for our trainees
who receive that degree of special treatment which a firm of our size is able to offer. Here you won't be
lost in a crowd. In addition you have the opportunity to work on the South coast in the buzzing environment
that Bournemouth supplies.

All our trainees have received their Practising Certificates and we have celebrated their success with them.
In addition we hope that our trainees will stay with us after qualification.

Here's what one of our trainees say about their training:

"I began my training with Laceys in January 2006 with the Litigation department, working under the direct
supervision of one of Laceys' Litigation Partners. I also held training seats in the Residential Conveyancing,
Private Client and Commercial Departments. From the start I had a number of opportunities to sit in on client
appointments and dealt directly with clients on a daily basis. In my second year I decided to specialise in the
Commercial Department and was able to develop my own client base and case load, making the transition to
qualification as smooth as possible. Each department provided me with a friendly and supportive atmosphere
in which to train and I was treated as an important member of the Laceys' team".
