Roger Clayson helps Tradebe Inutec acquire Winfrith nuclear site
4th January 2019 by Roger Clayson helps Tradebe Inutec acquire Winfrith nuclear site
Roger Clayson, an experienced solicitor from Laceys Commercial Property team, played a pivotal role in Tradebe’s acquisition of buildings and land at the Winfrith Nuclear Licensed Site from the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA).
Roger was first engaged by Tradebe as a specialist adviser on radioactive waste issues during the acquisition of Inutec by Tradebe in 2013. At the time plans were in place for Inutec to acquire a freehold interest in the Winfrith site and Roger advised on the preparation of initial heads of terms.
Roger was formally instructed to advise Inutec on the acquisition in February 2014. As well as the usual property issues, he has also advised on obtaining a nuclear site licence, the Crichel Down rules, the process for the removal of the property from the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority’s designating direction, the renewal of Inutec’s existing lease of part of the property pending completion and other ancillary issues.
Roger is pleased that completion has finally been achieved after many years’ hard work.
As well as being an experienced property lawyer, Roger specialises in the law of nuclear installations and radioactive waste. He is an active member of the International Nuclear Law Association (INLA), a director of the UK branch of INLA and a learned fellow of the Nuclear Institute.”
